Butchery, 3505 McDonald Drive,
Old Town, Yellowknife
Colorectal cancer (aka: bowel cancer, colon cancer) is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in Canada and it is one of leading causes of death from cancer for Canadians. On average, 67 Canadians will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer every single day. That’s not okay.
The Ring of Fire fundraiser is a hot sauce eating
competition, but the fundraising format is similar to any
other charity walk or run...just with hot wings. Very hot
wings. A marathon of pain, if you will. The general format is:

67 Canadians are diagnosed every single day with colon cancer, and 9,400 Canadians will die from colorectal cancer this year. We need to fund research to help lower those numbers. With your help, we can contribute to that research and help those diagnosed have more hopeful outcomes.
Attend as a Challenger (& Fundraiser):
- If you want to challenge the hot sauces and char your holes, the first thing you have to do is pay your $45CAD registration fee on the NWT Culinary Festival website. This fee covers your wings (or vegan option), the sauces and a pitcher of beer for you to share with any wingmen you have cheering you on!
- Next, you'll receive a confirmation email, that will link you to your customizable donation page, and guide you through setting it up. If you're here, you've probably already done that.
- Mark Saturday, July 29, 2023, in your calendar - that's the evening you'll be doing your marathon of pain alongside the celeb guest at Fishy People Butchery (our freakin' rad venue sponsor)
- Start collecting pledges (aka: donations) from your friends and family. You're gonna burn your mouth and likely every other sphincter in your body doing this, so encourage them to be generous.
Attend as a Wingman (aka Guest):
- If you want to attend the event, without eating the sauces, you are welcome to come as a guest, or a "wingman"/"wingwoman" to cheer on a Challenger.
- Buy a $25CAD "wingman" ticket on the NWT Culinary Festival website. This fee covers hard costs that allow the fundraiser to happen.
- Mark Saturday, July 29, 2023, in your calendar - that's the evening of the event.
- As a wingman, it is also you responsibility to help your Challenger pal raise as many donations as possible. Share the link to their personalized fundraising page, and spread the word!
Support and Donate:
- Hit that orange "Contribute" button at the top of the page
- Choose the amount that you can contribute
- Choose the Challenger you want your donation to be attributed to (that's probably going to be the friend that asked you to pledge them, but in case you just stumbled upon this fundraiser, feel free to simply choose our Celebrity Guest, or a Challenger at random.
