We have some good news… and we have some bad news. The good news is that we’re experiencing rapid growth for Mission Possible’s Employment Readiness Program as well as demand for services from our social enterprises despite the pandemic! The bad news is that we’ve been struggling to keep up with this growth because we don’t have enough vehicles . 

Helping people get back into the workforce has been more challenging than ever with continued COVID restrictions, but we’ve been able to run weekly information sessions and workshops for our Employment Readiness Program at a limited capacity. Our program participants, also known as our associates, are glad they’ve been able to keep working throughout the pandemic:

“My only time out is when I get to go to work, and the only people I see outside of the house are the ones I see at work, so [Mission Possible] kinda saves me on that one, otherwise I would go nuts! It’s given me something to do every single day. And even if I am grumpy in the morning, I walk in that door and there’s always someone in a good mood that just bleeds on you.”

As BC opens back up, we have no doubt that we’ll continue to see increased demands for our services, both from people looking to get into the workforce, and for our maintenance and cleaning services. Mission Possible is needed now more than ever before and the interest in our program is proof! 

To keep up with this growth, we need to add vehicles to our fleet ! Vehicles help us transport our maintenance crews to multiple work sites every day, and they keep our programs low-barrier by helping program participants and their equipment get to their cleaning routes and job sites. This is especially important as we receive more requests to work on sites outside of Metro Vancouver. We’ve even occasionally had to turn down job offers due to our lack of vehicles.

Having additional vehicles will also reduce travel time for our supervisors who drive our crews and associates to and from work sites. With this, they’ll have more time to support and mentor our workers on site which will help associates develop higher quality skills that can be transferable to work opportunities outside of Mission Possible. Our supervisors also use these vehicles to meet with our Impact Partners when they have a new request for our services. Our vehicles literally provide the wheels that keep us going and able to accept opportunities which help people gain independence, confidence and stability . 

Vehicles are crucial to the success of our programs and social enterprises, but they’re also very expensive!

That’s where you come in! Help keep our crews happy, busy and working by donating today! All the funds raised with this campaign will be used to purchase an additional pick up truck which will help us meet the demand for our services! 50% of the cost has already been covered by a grant, and we need your help to make up the rest! 

You’ll be helping everyone from our program participants, to our permanent staff, and even our customers! When (optimism is key!) we reach our goal of $25,000 for one vehicle, we will be increasing the goal to raise money for a second vehicle to further expand our fleet!
