My name is Chris, and I am a teacher at McKinley Elementary School.  Over my 23 years of teaching, I've seen the trend in our kids being more passive in terms of attention, negotiation, and physical movement. But our school wants to buck that trend and create spaces for play and language development.  We have a room designed for our Kindergartners to explore, interact, move, and make independent choices. This project will fund a variety of materials and tools designed to encourage kids to be creative, engage in purposeful play, talk with one another, negotiate problems, and work cooperatively.

The 21st century requires an education grounded in the 4 Cs:

• Critical thinking
• Creativity

The funds raised will purchase:

PVC, roughly 100+ feet of 1.5-2'  plus the T and elbow connectors, to build frameworks for grocery stores, hospitals, schools, garages, art studios, libraries, construction sites, etc:

Fittings: $150

Tools, materials, & outfits that go along with each community building:

Doctors kits and outfits: $120

Construction workers kits and outfits: $80

Library kits and outfits: $140

Technology kits and outfits: $150

Art supplies: $150

Grocery Store kits and outfits: $90
