PROJECT NAME: USS Anchorage (LSD 36) / LSDs 1-52 Monument
BACKGROUND: The Port of San Diego conducts an annual review, in January, of external requests from sponsors who want to temporarily exhibit artwork or objects on Port property or donate artwork or objects to the Port of San Diego.

ANTICIPATED COST: $12,000.00 - $15,000.00
NOTE: I always try and support US jobs and Veteran owned businesses whenever possible and would like to raise more money to use domestic fabrication. Granite source has not been selected.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Creation of a USS Anchorage (LSD 36) / LSDs 1-52 monument to be placed in Tuna Harbor Park, near the USS Midway Museum, on San Diego’s waterfront. The monument would be made from black granite with blue and gray granite highlights and would be placed on a concrete pad. The monument's exact size and shape is still being finalized. One area would be dedicated to USS Anchorage, accompanied by the ship’s statistics and a brief historical narrative.
NOTE: We are working on the final design.
Another area would provide a comprehensive listing of all LSDs, classified by their respective classes (i.e., Anchorage, Whidbey Island, Harpers Ferry, etc.), along with a description of the LSD mission and a statement honoring all those who served on these ships.
