LEASH Animal Welfare Society is a non profit dog rescue located in Metro Vancouver. We work with other rescues in order to help rehome dogs. While we have worked with high kill shelters in California, Tawian SPCA and Soi Dog our primary focus is Canadian reserve dogs coming from Manitoba and North West Territories.

We are currently fundraising for Polo. Polo is a 8-9 month old mixed breed that lived in a fly in Community in Manitoba - Red Sucker Lake First Nation. While Polo was a loved and owned dog he was the victim of a heinous act when some local children took him from his porch and tossed him into a fire. Polo managed to make it back home where he was discovered by his family. Smoke coming out of his nose. Polo had recieved 2nd degree burns to 90% of his body. His family reached out to Save A Dog Network Canada who flew him into Winnipeg and got him to their vet - Tuxedo Animal Hospital. Polo is currently recieving pain medication, special baths for his skin and antibiotics. He is a fighter and even tries to wag his tail at those that are helping him.

So what are we fundrasing for? We are fundrasing for the cost of vetting and flight from Manitoba to Vancouver. While vet work can come heavily discounted its never free. And the cost of medications is rarely if ever discounted. At this time, its also too early to tell the extent of Polo's injuires. He may or may not lose his eyes which would also require surgery. Polo will be living in a foster close to our vet as he will require regular checkups and special baths to help his skin heal.

We thank you for reading Polo's story and if you can find it in your hearts to donate or even share we are grateful. We have  no doubt that Polo will make a full recoevery and go on to find a forever home here on the WestCoast when he is ready. If you wish to follow along with Polo's story please add us on Facebook,

Thank you <3
