BEF has been instrumental in helping Kinnaman build its STEAM program throughout the years, as we do not receive funding from the district for the wide-range of tools and devices we use on a daily basis. Unfortunately, these resources wear out as time goes on. Many of the robotics tools that we've been using for years have dead batteries, broken wheels and are in dire need of replacement.

We are seeking a new set of 15 Sphero robots for our students to use during STEAM specials in order for us to continue teaching robotics.These are powerful, versatile robots that kids love to control. The can be dunked in water, covered in paint, programed to run through mazes and be used by students 5 years old and up. They also have a long battery life and a great replacement program (which we are taking advantage of to get our cost down)!

Kinnaman is a Title 1 school with a fantastic, diverse population of learners. Our kids are creative, engaged and passionate about learning STEAM skills in our dedicated and customized program. This program is extremely important to our students, as all students in our school are eligible for free meals due to navigating poverty, and most simply do not have exposure or access to to high tech, in-demand tools or opportunities to develop STEAM skills, compared to students in other areas of attendance.
