Before you go, did you know that simply by sharing this campaign, you could help it raise $150? It's an effective way to support the cause.
No thanks
International China Concern (Hong Kong SAR) hasn't added a story.
We all know everything is different this year. So is Walk the Wall. One thing hasn’t changed: the opportunity to transform the lives of children with disabilities.
Instead of an annual walk organized by ICC Canada, this year you’ll be able to design your own walk!
Walk the Wall is going back to its roots! On September 26, walkers from all around the world will join with friends and family to walk in their local neighbourhoods, parks - or just around the block! From the moment the sun rises in Australia until it sets on the west coast of North America, you’ll be joined by thousands of people who are helping us achieve the goal of walking a total of 15,500 KM in one day! Every step that you walk brings us closer to that goal, and every dollar that you raise enables struggling children with disabilities and their families to ‘go the distance’.
This year your ‘distance’ may be our traditional 10 km walk, a family 3km walk, or a custom length walk that you choose. Whatever your distance, we’re going to be with you all the way, cheering you on – not in person but through your phone! Registering is easy - sign up as an individual, join a team, or create a team of your own. Then help spread the word and raise funds for vulnerable children in China by telling your friends about Walk the Wall and inviting friends and family to donate.
Our new app is going to put a whole lot of inspiration in your pocket and will be your cheerleader as you walk. As normal, register on walkthewall.org, set up your fundraising page, and get sponsors. Just before the walk, download the app and on September 26 simply sign in and choose your walk distance. You’ll be able to see how many people are walking around the world, how much you and the ICC community have raised and our progress towards our global goal of 15,000km. And just to get you really inspired, you can enjoy some amazing videos and stories in the app. When you’re ready simply hit the start button and begin your walk.
As you walk, you will see how far you have walked as you follow along in real time on our Great Wall map that is scaled to the distance of your walk. As you reach the watchtowers along the Great Wall, we’ll be there to cheer you on, and the app will invite you to watch brief videos of the amazing children and families that you are walking for. Want to share your walk with your friends and the ICC Walk the Wall community? Take a selfie right inside the app and post it to your favourite social media. Halfway through your walk, you can even send a live video update to all those that have sponsored your walk! We might not all be able to walk together this year, but you’ll have the global ICC community right along with you, cheering you on from your cell phone.
The short answer is, ‘Yes’! This year’s walk is probably the most important walk we have ever done. Without you (signing up, getting sponsors and helping us raise vital funds) the children and families we serve won’t be able to go the distance. But with your help and the work of ICC, they can not only go the distance, they can also break through the prejudice, stigma, poverty and exclusion to build better lives and a better China.
Yes, much has changed in 2020, but let’s not allow Covid-19 to take away our opportunity to make such a vital difference. Join thousands of walkers around the world and help us reach our goal of walking 15,000km in one day and raise the funds that enable children with disabilities to go the distance!
