Harry Poznikoff
February 4, 1935 - November 19, 2025
With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, the family of Harry Poznikoff announces his passing on November 19, 2025, at the University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. Harry leaves behind a legacy of devotion, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the people he loved.
Harry was born in Brilliant, British Columbia, and grew up on a farm near Salmo, B.C. where he was raised in a close-knit and loving family. His early years shaped his strong work ethic and kind character. He excelled academically and athletically - serving as his school's valedictorian and shining as a talented fastball pitcher.
Harry began his 35-year career with CIBC in Taber, Alberta, a path that took him and his family to many communities across the province. He was respected not only as a dedicated banker but also as a trusted and active community member who built lasting relationships wherever he went. During this time in Taber, he met and married the love of his life Ella, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, partnership, and purpose.
Harry was a devoted father to his children. He was a proud and supportive grandfather and a delighted great-grandfather. His family was the center of his world, and he embraced each role with deep joy and pride.
Harry will be remembered for his strong values, his gentle spirit, his quiet strength, and his unwavering belief that family and friends are life's greatest gifts. His presence will be profoundly missed, but the love he gave so generously will continue to guide and comfort all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his loving wife (Ella), his parents (John & Nellie), his brothers (Nick & John), and his in-laws, Gabriel Sr. and Anastasia Tajcnar, Gabriel Jr. and Liz Tajcnar, Bill Tajcnar, Rose Tajcnar and Murray Rennie.
Harry is survived by his children Ken (Kristine) Poznikoff, Cathy (Dale) Osborne and Gordon (Angela) Poznikoff, grandchildren Krista (Nick), Andrew (Anna), Karla (Matt), Gordon (Tyler), David (Yolanda), Jon (Matt), Cole (Abby), Taylor-Rae, Alexandra (Janelle) and great-grandchildren Solly, Levi, Charlie, Emerson, Marcus, Olivia, Nathan and Hudson.
Harry is also survived by his sisters Polly (Paul) Osachoff and Helen Rennie, sisters-in -law Elaine Poznikoff, Linda Poznikoff and Shirley Tajcnar, brother-in laws Rudy Tajcnar, Peter (Wilma) Tajcnar, and Frank Tajcnar.
The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by the dedicated staff of Unit 5A6 at the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute who supported Harry and his family with exceptional kindness. We would also like to thank Lewis Estates and Qualicare staff especially Dahlia, Virtual Home Hospital, Dr. Dylan Taylor, Harry's long time cardiologist, his family physician Dr. Sadia Shakil; and Dr. Sean McMurtry, Dr. Golnaz Roshankar, and Dr. Harrison Moore whose care, guidance, and compassion brought comfort to Harry and his family in his final days.
