Do you remember your classroom teachers using an overhead projector? The blurriness and poor resolution that made it hard to see? This classroom display system changes all of that. It includes a 65 inch TV, a slim TV stand, an Apple pencil and an iPad stand.
Teachers are able to use an iPad and Apple Pencil as tools to access apps for drawing and research or as a document camera. The document camera gives students a format for sharing work and ideas. It lets teachers share writing, book pages and science experiments with students. The best part? Everyone in the classroom has a clear and high-quality view of it all. The three (K-2 grade) teachers who receive this setup (from this grant) will be joining the eleven other classrooms already using these powerful teaching tools.
Once funded, we will use this grant money right away. Because of
the pandemic, our district is currently working in the
Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) model. This display system
can provide benefits to students and teachers, even in CDL! Teachers
working in the building have access to a clear and large Zoom
display. They can see and interact with students using the 65” TV.
Teachers working either remotely or in the building can use the
Apple Pencil’s capability to easily write on digital media. This
provides smoother input versus writing with a fingertip. Which means
kids, as Zoom participants, can see the clear diagrams or sketches
and talk their teacher through marking notes on writing or digital
texts. The classroom display systems will be especially valuable at
the time that our school returns to Hybrid learning. Students will
need to remain at their socially-distanced desks. The highly visible
display will allow all students to have a good view of classroom
work. When school returns to an interactive place, students will be
able share their drawing, writing or math problem solving with small
blocks via the Apple Stand. Students can collaborate using the iPad
and Apple pencil. And all of that work is visible on the large
screen.
Hiteon is an elementary school with 664 students in grades K-5. Nineteen languages are spoken here, we have more than 50 staff members and an involved parent community. Our PTC (Parent Teacher Club) is active and proudly supports students and staff. Typically, the PTC has helped Hiteon begin to purchase these classroom display systems using funds from our annual Fun Run. During this time of Pandemic though, fundraising opportunities for the PTC have all but disappeared. That is why we need your help!
