About us

We are a not for profit organisation working to regenerate forest landscapes and communities with the help of music and the arts.  Since 2019 and over the course of our seven successful planting seasons, we have seen the impact that planting trees in degraded landscapes has on biodiversity, wildlife and local people. However, we have also witnessed  how much work there is still to be done. Funds from this campaign will directly support our two main projects in Romania and the UK:

In Romania, our project in the Carpathian Mountains (pictured above) works to reforest one of the oldest and most threatened forest landscapes in Europe. Often referred to as the 'Amazon of Europe', these mountains have been subjugated to decades of illegal and ruthless logging. Working together with our partners on the ground, we are seeing vast improvements in the newly reforested areas, including the return of vegetation and even wildlife. Additionally, FWF helps provide jobs by hiring local people to plant the trees with traditional methods and indigenous knowledges, as well as supporting cultural and musical traditions in the forests. In the UK, our work is just beginning but, as in Romania, we are seeing a huge need and desire for reforestation and regeneration of local landscapes. During the launch of our UK projects last year, we worked with land owners on rewilding and education projects that feature native trees on degraded lands. We also had a huge interest from local people to join us at our tree planting events and contribute to their local environment and communities. Our aim this year is to build on this momentum and continue our work in the UK by approaching new locations and partners to plant more trees in the region, while also growing our education and youth programming in the forests. You can read about our first project in Sussex/UK here and about our work with the Children's Forest project here. 

FWF and our partners are ready, willing and able to deploy large-scale tree-planting projects in our two primary locations this autumn, but we need your help to get us there.

For every £2 donated, a tree will be planted, maintained and protected. Each of these trees and each donation is a small but critical step in the regeneration of threatened landscapes.

And remember, all donations up to £30,000 made through November will be matched, thereby doubling your impact  AND the amount of trees planted this season!
