Our Elmonica Fifth Grade team is working to bring our students unique experiences during the school day, especially in the arts.

We found Oregon Children's Theater has an In-School Program that brings multiple modes of learning using theater games and mindfulness activities to enhance our students' social-emotional skills.  We believe this will be a truly memorable and skill-building experience for each of our students.

We've already secured $4,760 through an Oregon Children's Theater grant to cover a majority of the costs. We need to raise just $700 more so each of our three 5th grade classes can get 4, 1-hour In School Program lessons from OCT, and we're already halfway there with a dollar-for-dollar match from Beaverton Education Foundation! Together, we can help make sure our future leaders have success in their ability to use appropriate tools to self-regulate and view the world around them with a positive mindset.

When students are able to be exposed to the arts and multiple modes of learning, studies have shown there is more success in learning. Our students will be able to deepen their social-emotional skills such as self-management, conflict resolution, and relationship building using CASEL curriculum created by leaders within the Oregon Children's Theater.

• How to manage stress and difficult emotions
• How to make friends and build a strong community
• Healthy ways to resolve conflicts
