Sheila Louise Wright hasn't added a story.
Benjamin Simao is a master instrument maker, experimental music archeologist, musician and composer. Having learned the instrument-making trade from his father, Benjamin gave up a career in Law to follow his passion for making strings, woodwinds and others musical instruments. He has a keen interest in the early music of the Romans, Greeks and mainland Celts. Combined with his skills as an instrument maker, it was a match made in heaven.
Benjamin has given concerts and performed at festivals all over Europe & Great Britain, and has lectured to both adults and children. He is also an avid Roman/Celtic re-enactor with the. He is also working on a CD of his music which will be available in 2020
We would like to bring this talented musician and artisan here to Canada and the USA to lecture and share his knowledge and passion with us through mini-concerts and lecture/workshops at the Known World Music & Dance Symposium 2021 (location TBA), assuming we have approval to go ahead with the event from the powers that be. It will be his first visit to North America.
The monies you donate will go toward his airfare, assorted paperwork, appropriate Visas, accommodations and other travel expenses in order to attend Collegium and other home venues in Washington state and British Columbia.
We're asking for help from our friends and other fellow early & classical music enthusiasts by donating $5, $10, $20, $100 or whatever you are willing to donate to help us make this amazing opportunity happen.
We/I will be setting up home-concerts & lectures in the Washington and Vancouver, BC areas (TBA) which you will be invited to. Other locations may be added according to time and availability. If you would like to host Benjamin in your home for a concert, please contact me at songstress1973 (at) gmail (dot) com.
Monies already donated are being held in a saving account. Refunds will be issued if we are not able to secure enough funding.
