I have been a teacher for 20 years, but this is my second year teaching physical education at Errol Hassell Elementary School. When I first started at Errol Hassell, I was really excited to discover that the gym has three climbing ropes and a cargo net. These are great pieces of equipment to use to help students develop upper body strength. The problem, however, is the school does not have the right kind of safety mats to put at the bottom of the ropes/net in case students fall.

With you support, we can give students the opportunity to use the school’s climbing ropes and cargo net safely. The climbing ropes and the cargo net are on opposite sides of the gym. Ideally, we could have one mat on either side of the cargo net, and two mats at the bottom of the climbing ropes. This will give our students some really cool experiences with climbing and open up more opportunities for them to develop muscular strength/endurance in their upper bodies.

We'd love to get enough funding for four ($7,000) but right now, we're aiming for two mats that cost $3,529. Every little bit helps and with matching funds from BEF and our PTO, your donation is DOUBLED. Thank you!
