Something special is happening in Del Monte Village.

Yes, we're growing vegetables—but we're really growing a Village.

Algo especial está sucediendo en Del Monte Village.

Sí, cultivamos vegetales, pero en realidad estamos cultivando una comunidad.

When we broke ground on May 2, 2026, we weren't interested in creating just another community garden. We wanted to create a place where our neighborhood could come together—a welcoming third space between home, work and school where you don't have to buy anything or have a reason to be there.

Cuando comenzamos el 2 de mayo de 2026, no queríamos crear simplemente otro jardín comunitario. Queríamos crear un lugar donde nuestro vecindario pudiera reunirse: un tercer espacio acogedor entre el hogar, el trabajo y la escuela, donde no tienes que comprar nada ni necesitas una razón para estar allí.

And it's happening.

People who might have lived near each other for years are meeting for the first time. Kids are getting their hands in the dirt. Neighbors share plants, food, knowledge and stories. People stop just to see what's growing, lend a hand or sit and talk.

Every time that happens, our Village gets a little stronger.

Y está sucediendo.

Personas que quizás han vivido cerca durante años se están conociendo por primera vez. Los niños ponen sus manos en la tierra. Los vecinos comparten plantas, alimentos, conocimientos e historias. La gente se detiene para ver qué está creciendo, ayudar un poco o simplemente sentarse a conversar.

A Village is more than a place on a map.

It's knowing your neighbors. It's a child learning something from someone three generations older. It's sharing food and traditions across cultures. It's having a safe, welcoming place to spend time without needing to spend money.

It's neighbors looking out for a shared space—and for one another.

Una comunidad es mucho más que un lugar en un mapa.

Es conocer a tus vecinos. Es un niño aprendiendo de alguien tres generaciones mayor. Es compartir alimentos y tradiciones entre culturas. Es tener un lugar seguro y acogedor donde pasar tiempo sin tener que gastar dinero.

Es tener vecinos que cuidan un espacio compartido—y que también se cuidan unos a otros.

And sometimes, it's a connection that opens a door.

By bringing our neighborhood together, we helped connect a young neighbor with an opportunity that led to a paid internship.

A garden created a connection.
A connection created an opportunity.

That's what we mean when we say, “It Takes a Village.”

Y a veces, es una conexión que abre una puerta.

Al reunir a nuestro vecindario, ayudamos a conectar a un joven vecino con una oportunidad que lo llevó a conseguir una pasantía pagada.

Del Monte Village Garden isn't divided into individual plots. We grow together.

But what we're building goes far beyond gardening.

We envision the Village as a neighborhood third space—a place for gardening, workshops, cultural traditions, community events, youth opportunities, environmental education, games, conversation, celebrations, shade, fresh food and sometimes just a comfortable place to sit with your neighbors.

Del Monte Village Garden no está dividido en parcelas individuales. Cultivamos juntos.

Pero lo que estamos creando va mucho más allá de la jardinería.

Imaginamos este lugar como el tercer espacio de nuestro vecindario: un lugar para cultivar, aprender, compartir tradiciones culturales, celebrar eventos comunitarios, crear oportunidades para nuestros jóvenes, jugar, conversar, disfrutar de la sombra y los alimentos frescos, o simplemente sentarse un rato con los vecinos.

The vegetables are important.

But the connections growing between the garden beds may be even more important.

Grants and partnerships help us build specific projects. Our General Fund allows us to keep the Village alive, active and evolving.

It helps us say YES to another activity, another tree, another workshop, another improvement, another neighborhood idea—and another opportunity we haven't even imagined yet.
