Martha Bottomley hasn't added a story.
Dilip Abhyankar was an enthusiastic member of several trading
communities.
He was always trying to learn more about trading,
it's nuances, and he was a constant and extremely helpful source of
information & new ideas for trading the Foreign Exchange.
He had recently moved to Cambodia as the Indian regulations made trading very difficult, but he had encountered personal difficulties earlier this year that made it hard to focus on trading. It was there, in Cambodia, that, just 3 days after going into hospital, he died from cancer in his lungs/brain.
He was not just enthusiastic about trading, he was also very proud of
his Indian heritage while considering himself a citizen of the world.
He had been in charge sailing container ships around the world &
spoke several languages (sort of :-).
In a recent chat he wrote
"I enjoy n really I feel two things that I always wanted A) Learn
Sanskrit B) learn Sitar."
Some of us were on the receiving
end of videos on meditations, interviews with gurus &
Sanskrit/Vedic teachings :-)
He would regularly be up in the wee small hours of the morning
to attend the training sessions. He was friendly, quirky & gave
the chat rooms a special feel & vibrancy when he was there.
Some of his ideas were integrated into the trading methods. But,
trying to figure out his ideas sometimes took a bit of work.
His
writing & explanation styles were hard to decipher at times, :-)
lots of spelling mistakes, strange word jumbles. He seemed to be
thinking faster than he was writing at times, but once we managed to
decrypt them, the ideas generally proved to be very useful.
It seemed that the analysis & study was more alluring for
him than trading, and he had to be reminded to stop sharpening the axe
so much & start cutting wood with it.
In the past months,
it seemed he had had enough sharpening & was about to start
swinging in earnest.
Many who have an engineering/pilot/captaining background prefer to
be absolutely certain about what will happen, and the FX can be very
fickle - & this can make trading difficult for them.
Just recently, he had been working on another idea, and we had
scheduled a meeting with him sometime this month, but unfortunately it
never happened.
In fact, many of us are still waiting for a
Skype reply from him.
His passing was so sudden.
He had simple goals to help support his family & assist a couple
of close friends. But they are now undone.
And that is where
this page and you can help.
Martha sponsored much of his training asked for this page to be
set up to help his family.
(Dilip regarded her as his second
mother.)
She will collect any comments, donations & notes of
appreciations & pass them through to his family in India.
This can be a way to honor Dilip's life his trading achievements and pay your respects to his family.
It is particularly hard in that we never had the chance to say
goodbye.
Be at Peace, Dilip.
