Helping Cole. A very sick Lucky Dog, who is currently fighting for his live. He is a sweet and gentle soul and so worth saving.

Beautiful Cole is in need of our help. He recently came to us and is now very, very sick. After being trapped he ended up at the county pound… where he caught an infection, and kennel cough that has since turned into pneumonia. Cole already has been seen by 2 of our vets, we are doing everything in our power to take care of this sweet boy, X-rays, fluids, and several antibiotics. This is all very expensive. Please read his story below and please consider donating. We are a registered 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. Lucky Dog Rescue is entirely run by volunteers

Cole is a neutered male shepherd mix, about 4-5 years of age, who was living under an abandoned house in Glendale; he lived with 2 other dogs on this lot, relying on nearby neighbors to bring them food and water occasionally.  The city of Glendale was about to condemn the property and use the lot for the widening of Northern Avenue; the neighbors grew very concerned about the dogs being displaced and having nowhere to go.

Over the next few days all 3 dogs were humanely trapped on site, including Cole.  One of the dogs was microchipped and reunited with her original family after having been missing for 9 months!  Cole and her girlfriend, Amber (a pointer mix) had no ID and are currently waiting for their new, forever families at Second Home Pet Resort; he is good with the other dogs he has met!

Cole is an extremely gentle soul, but his body is clearly worn from some time on the streets.  He was initially neutered at a shelter but developed a complication with his surgery site which became infected.  He also was extremely lethargic and was taken right to a private veterinarian for an exam and bloodwork.  Cole tested positive for Giardia so is currently being treated for this condition, as well as for his infection.  His coat is brittle from lack of nutrition; he has lived a difficult life and seems to be grateful for the simple pleasures, like a soft, comfy bed and regular, healthy meals.
