Primera edicion Latino Americana de C2C4C (Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer)

Bristol Myers Squibb trae Continent 2 Continent 4 Cancer a América Latina, un evento ciclista de tres semanas en el continente para recaudar fondos para la investigación contra el cáncer.

Del 30 de noviembre al 14 de diciembre, más de 65 empleados alternarán el viaje de tres semanas entre Puerto Varas, Chile y Pucón durante casi 1.800 kilómetros en total con el objetivo de recaudar fondos para las organizaciones latinoamericanas que trabajan en la lucha contra el cáncer y quienes son miembros de la Unión para el Control Internacional del Cáncer ( UICC).

El viaje de este año incluye empleados de seis países participantes, incluidos  Argentina, Chile, Colombia, México, Perú y los Estados Unidos.  Juntos, sus kilometros crearán más recuerdos para los pacientes con cáncer y sus seres queridos. Bristol Myers Squibb donará hasta $ 50,000 USD a la UICC para apoyar los esfuerzos de recaudación de fondos de los ciclistas.

 

Por que recaudar fondos para la Fundación  Chile Sin Cancer. 

Disminuyendo la desigualdad en el acceso a tratamientos oncológicos

En Chile mueren 3 personas cada hora por cáncer y se estima que una de ellas se podría haber salvado
con un tratamiento y diagnóstico oportuno.

Nuestro objetivo es que esa persona sí tenga oportunidades.

A fines del 2013, recibimos una donación importante que fue aliciente para crear la Fundación Chile sin Cáncer y dar nuestro primer paso en elHospital Sótero del Río, donde construimos e implementamos una Unidad de tratamiento ambulatorio y varias estaciones de trabajo para el equipo. Contribuimos a contratar más oncólogos que trabajaran en el sector público, enfermeras de apoyo y equipos de investigación. Así, en menos de un año, logramos triplicar las horas de atención de oncólogos, redujimos los tiempos de espera desde 40 a menos de 10 días, mejoramos importantemente las capacidades de acogida de estos pacientes, y estamos comenzando a generar estudios de investigación para crecer en lo que sabemos.

Esta experiencia virtuosa que conectó una necesidad de Chile, capacidades económicas del mundo privado, las responsabilidades e intereses universitarios de formar a más capital humano para cáncer, con el compromiso del sector público; ha permitido cambiar la historia de muchos pacientes.

Actualmente, la fundación trabaja para llevar e implementar plataformas de atención al cáncer en ciudades clave de la zona norte, central y sur de Chile.
