Hi there everybody! Thanks so much for taking the time out to read my story and learn more about my passion; Let's help build some homes for families living in slum conditions.

My name is Caitlin. I was born and raised in the St. Louis, MO area, but recently relocated to the Santa Monica, CA area for work.  My roots will always be with my family in Missouri, but I think my soul has always been a west coast girl!  I am a consultant for growing Software company; I love my job and am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to have traveled all over the country teaching individuals how to use our software products; I absolutely love growing in my position.

Outside of my professional life, other cultures have always intrigued me. A few years back, I traveled to South Korea to help teach young children how to speak English, which was an incredibly rewarding experience.  While traveling the world to get to South Korea, it didn’t take long for me to realize how we often take the simple roof over our heads for granted.  Thousands of families worldwide don’t have a dry, safe, place to call home; and the place in which they do call home is no place we would ever step foot into.  Close your eyes for a moment and try to imagine what it may feel like to not have a place to go at the end of a long day at work; to not have a clean, dry place to lay your head at night; to constantly feel guilty that you’re unable to provide a safe haven for your children.  When I came across We-Journey and Techo, i read about their cause and I immediately  knew it was a calling.  There’s nothing quite like knowing you have a place to lay your head at night; a place that you feel your family is protected from things as minuscule as rain.  I want to have a hand in helping build these families a house; a safe, dry place to call home; a place that they’re proud of.

For the next few weeks I am going to be raising money in hopes of earning enough to help build a family in need a home to call their own. Help me to give back to those less fortunate; help me give back to those individuals who don’t know what it is like to have a place of their own to call home; help me have the opportunity to travel with a purpose to help build the home myself.  Be the change you want to see in the world!

WITH OUR HELP THIS IS WHAT THEY WILL LIVE IN SOON:

YOU CAN SEE EXACTLY WHERE YOUR MONEY WENT

ALL I NEED IS FOR YOU TO GIVE THE COST OF A COFFEE A DAY

AND WE CAN BUILD IT, TOGETHER.

THE IMPACT

  • We work with TECHO, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, to build the homes
  • TECHO is a youth-led, world-renowned organization
  • It was started 20 years ago, and has since built 100,000 transitional homes throughout Latin America by mobilizing nearly 1M volunteers
  • Their approach is sustainable and community-led; this is not a one-off and communities are supported for the long term
  • This home will have a locking door and windows for security, solid roof and walls to protect from the elements, and a raised floor.

THE SUPPORT

  • Funds go to build supplies, tools, day-of execution
  • Every $3k means another home funded
  • On the Journey we stay at reputable hotels, learn from the locals, and support the local economy through sustainable and responsible travel.
  • On this page there are different amounts you can choose to give
  • I humbly suggest $100 or more: this will make it possible for us to hit our goal
