Literacy support is one of BEF's primary goals, so we are always excited to support teachers in their efforts to engage students in reading!  Many of Aloha's students require extra support for reading comprehension, like graphic novels, and our district (most districts) doesn't have the funds to supply school libraries with them. (This graphic novel is dense, challenging and 250 pages.) With lower reading skills and challenging backgrounds, teachers at Aloha must access all supports necessary to compel students. Why? Because our students are wonderful, they deserve it, and our society NEEDS them!
