AiMHi Prince George Association for Community Living hasn't added a story.

We are the Infant Development Team at AiMHi.  Since 1979 we have helped over 3,700 families. In 2016, the AiMHi Infant Development Program connected with approximately 335 families in Prince George and surrounding area.  Not surprisingly, the number of families who access the program has been on the rise every year for the past ten years, caseloads have gone from 25 to 49 families. With your help, our goal is to hire a consultant for a year, so we can create the environment needed to assist children and their families in the best way.

Early Intervention is important because it allows all children, regardless of their abilities, to become full and active members of their community.  Increasing demand for individual home visits means that consultants with the program are no longer able to facilitate group experiences for families with young children in Prince George.  Group experiences bring people of various abilities and with different life experiences together and can generate ideas or perspectives that others may not have ever considered or been aware of.  Everyone has their own way of viewing a problem, shaped by the individual experiences that they have had and group settings provide opportunities for families to connect, relax, share their experiences and rejuvenate.  A more fulsome program provides:

  • A place for parents to learn specific skills to help special needs children, i.e., Itsy Bitsy Yoga, Infant Massage
  • Contact with other parents who have dealt with similar situations and can suggest specialists and other available programs specific to their child's needs
  • A safe, non-judgmental place for parents to communicate and share their experiences

Kings parents said:  “At AiMHi, he (King) had a place he could play among other kids and be safe and have developmental toys that were appropriate for him and not get hurt. You learn a lot more about other programs through other families that you meet here, and that is kind of a big one there a lot of things we would have never known about, but because we have place to talk to other families you find the extra programs which make a big difference….You meet other who have had the same problems…Kind of a Hub…. We have a social network.”

How can you change a child and a family’s life? The cost to assist one child and their family per year are just over $3100.00. A small price to pay for giving a child and their family the best start they can to succeed.

“Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded.” ~ Jess Lair

Top 10 Reasons to Give:

  1. You change a child’s life
  2. You make a difference to the child and their family
  3. You contribute to a stronger community
  4. You make a difference - no donation is too small or too big
  5. You or a family may need the services one day
  6. Someone you know was helped by this type of service
  7. We give tax receipts
  8. This impacts every family in some way
  9. The majority of the children never need further assistance
  10. We have 41 years experience - this makes a difference.

 Impact to the Community

Economists have calculated that for every dollar invested in promoting early childhood supports and services including child care, at least two dollars are saved in later social costs. If that dollar is invested in children who are at risk, we can witness a future financial savings of up to $7 for every dollar invested.

Story assist — generating contentworking

To create an engaging campaign story, please answer the questions below. Don't worry about full sentences or grammar—the focus is on providing detailed information. The more details you give, the better the final story will be. Once you submit your answers, a draft story will be generated for you to review and edit as needed.

  1. What is the problem you want to solve?
Provide a description of the underlying problem or situation you want to improve with funding. Explain why this issue is important and what negative effects it currently has on people, the environment or your community.
  2. What is your solution?
Describe your plan to address the problem and highlight what makes your approach unique or effective.
  3. How will the funds be used?
Outline how the money will be allocated to specific programs, resources or services.
  4. How will contributions make a tangible difference?
Explain the benefits and positive changes resulting from your project being funded. If appropriate, also explain how the lives of beneficiaries will be impacted.
  5. How will you keep supporters involved in your campaign?
Detail how you will provide updates on progress, share stories on the impact of contributions and keep supporters connected to the project.
Please answer at least one question to generate a story.
