The Aloha High School Band is preparing for their final concert of the year in June titled "A Night at the Movies". They will be performing works from cinematic favorites that will be easily recognized. Given that film music is a very specific genre and performing it is a new skill, we would like to give the band a real-world experience by going to the Oregon Symphony on May 29th. The Oregon Symphony will be playing the score to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix while the audience enjoys the movie on a big screen. This would be an incredibly exciting and educational experience for all band students. The vast majority of Aloha High Band students have not attended a symphony concert before, and this exposure would not only be educational, it would be inspiring to many student musicians regardless of their future careers.
Our current barrier are the funds to secure a bus for transportation, as well as funds for the tickets for students to attend as a group. If this is funded, we will be updating donors and sharing videos and photos of this amazing experience that will not only help us shine in our final concert, but give students the amazing experience of watching professionals on their instruments perform. Your donation will provide this incredible experience and could change the course of a student's life!
The school bus to and from the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall will cost around $300, and tickets are $65 each with a group discount and added handling fees. Students would be paying $20 of their ticket price. The goal is to allow 30 students to attend, which totals about $1,700.

Founded in 1988, the Beaverton Education Foundation raises money to provide hands-on innovative academic enrichment and advancement programs & projects that go beyond normal school funding at all Beaverton public schools and is a 501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organization. BEF mobilizes community resources to fund innovative classroom projects, summer and after-school programs.
In the event that this project does not reach its goal or exceeds its goal, BEF may apply the funds received to another similar project.
