It is more important than ever to teach students the value of journalism and the role of a local journalism.  Some of my students have never held a newspaper in their hands.  Your support can can help all Warriors experience how a student newspaper is essential part of the community.  This will benefit not just my journalism students, but it will also benefit the entire Aloha community. 

Aloha has not had a regularly published newspaper in 10 years, but starting last June, my students brought back a printed edition of the paper,  The Pineapple Post. Students and staff loved it, and they were just as enthusiastic when this year's first issue appeared in November.

Between my two sections of journalism, we now have a trained staff capable of producing a monthly issue of the paper, and we are looking for the financial support needed to do so. It costs around $500 to print an issue (depending on color and page numbers). We would use the $2,500 to print a monthly newspaper starting in February and continuing through June, using School Paper Express.

Next year, we hope to raise money through advertising, but as we get the paper up and running regularly, we are looking for your support to make The Pineapple Post  a fixture at Aloha, so that students are knowledgeable about what is happening in their community.
