Hello!

My name is Hannah Davais, and I am a teacher and coach at Aloha High School. This is my third year teaching and second year as the head coach for the Aloha Dance Team. Before I was a teacher, I was a student athlete at Glencoe High School, and a member of the Glencoe Dance Team. I have always dreamed of coaching my own competitive team. This dream came true when I became the head coach of the Aloha Dance Team in 2022. Now, I plan to make Aloha a staple in OSAA Dance & Drill competitions.

Our goal for this funding request is to raise $2,500 to fund our entire 2023-2024 competition season. We need these funds paid for by November 30th.

For many years, The Aloha Dance Team has been seen as a "club," despite the team registering with Athletics and paying the same fees as every other athlete in the school. We hope to change the perspective of dance team by entering the competition scene. We also hope that this new excitement for the team will encourage future dancers to join our team. We currently perform at football games, basketball games, local exhibitions, and assemblies. The Aloha Dance Team is a no-cut sport. Everyone who wants to dance, regardless of skill and experience, is welcome on our team. On top of various dance skills (including hip hop, jazz, lyrical and ballet), being part of Dance Team encourages dancers to grow and develop as members of our community. Dancers learn to communicate and ask questions, be patient, and speak and perform publicly. In addition, we are proud to say that multiple dance alumni have gone on to the collegiate level.

Dance Team is an expensive sport that does not get any funding from the district. All money is paid for or fundraised by individual teams and dancers; and most of our competitors have a budget of over 10k per season.

We are hoping to raise $2,500 to help cover the cost of competition fees, costumes, hair & makeup, and food for the dancers. 

Your donation, of any amount, will help us cover these costs:

- $25 pays for two dancer's food for 1 competition

- $50 pays for one dancer's costume for one dance ($300 total)

- $100 pays for one dancer's costume for one dance and the dancer's hair & makeup ($600 total)

- $200 pays for one competition fee ($1000 total)

We recognize that we are asking for a significant amount of funds, however we plan to use every single cent towards competitions and growth for our program.
