Katya Solovskaia hasn't added a story.
So, here's what we now know about Anna's condition and proposed treatment: after a couple of weeks in Izrael, extensive blood testing, PET scan and biopsy, multiple drainage of abdominal fluids etc., we now have a confirmed diagnosis: anaplastic plasma cell myeloma. Very rare kind of bone marrow cancer. Right now she is too weak to start treatment, so they are treating her with steroids and fluids in hopes to start mild chemo soon and then move on to bone marrow transplant and further chemo/biological therapy. She is in a lot of pain and has nausea from pain medication. The cost of treatment in Izrael is totally prohibitive, so as soon as she feels well enough to be trasported, she is heading back to Moscow. We are still raising money in order to cover the remaining two weeks of treatment in Izrael, special transportation to Moscow, treatment and trasplant. A big heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed and is thinking about contributing, you are making a world of a difference in this very, very hard struggle for Anna's life! A Special thank you to everyone who is keeping her in their prayers, she needs them right now!
ORIGINAL VERSION BELOW:
My sister, Anna, a 41-year old mother of two wonderful boys, age 11 years old and 18 months, was diagnosed with cancer and is getting progressively worse. She was seeking medical attention for about 3 years unsuccessfully, went through difficult pregrancy undiagnosed, until she was in so much pain that she had to go to an ER. After that, things started happening very quickly. Preliminary diagnosis - carcinoma with multiple metastasis throughout her body, with cancer present at kidney, ovaries, liver, possibly lungs, digestive tract. She is accumulating fluids in her stomach. The oncologist refused to operate on her. Oncologists that she's been able to see so far have given her unclear diagnosis and very little guidance.
Anna needs help getting enough money for proper diagnosis, determining course of treatment, initial chemotherapy/radiation and, ultimately, surgery. She found a public medical center in Izrael that seems to provide that kind of service. She, along with her husband of 11 years, their two sons, her sister, her retired parents, as well as other family members and friends will be thankful for any help!
