Adam Leighton hasn't added a story.
What have I gotten myself into???
The East Side Boxing Club where I train is a remarkable resource in the community. I am participating in a fundraiser through the Club for programs that support the Downtown East Side.
In April I will be in a 3-round fight as part of a large boxing card and I want your support!
When: Saturday, April 18th
Where: Croatian Cultural
Centre, 3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Time: 2:00 pm until late
I've gotten a nice 40 years out of this face, but I couldn't leave well enough alone and I've signed up to get it punched in for charity. I can't promise that this is going to be pretty but I can promise that it will be a fun event and big fundraiser for a great cause. I have been working in Vancouver's downtown east side for five years now as a nurse and this is an opportunity to support programs for at risk youth in the area. I was naively recruited by an optimistic co-worker (this is David's fault, haha), the good news is I secretly went into training in February at East Side Boxing Club to see if I could do it, but now I've got to make this public because I need your help to raise the minimum $500 but we're hoping for a lot more. I want you all to come out in April and cheer me on ( and if you must laugh or cringe for me), there will be beer too, it ain't called Beer Wars for nothing.
Here's some additional info you need to understand:
1. If I get injured before the fight, or they cannot find me an appropriate opponent (not likely, but not an impossibility) all funds raised remain with the fundraiser.
2. Tax receipts are only issued on amounts of $100 or more. They
must be made off-line (to me) in cash or cheque. If you wish to
donate less than $100 or don't care about the tax receipt, make your
donation directly on this page.
I look forward to seeing you in April.
In the mean time,
Please Give
Big - because I'll never do this again!
Love, Adam
