And on May 15 a large pitbull came into Kern County Animal services after being severely been by a rattlesnake. He had been found stray, struggling to keep his head up with all the swelling. The shelter reached out to us with hopes that we could assist. A Facebook post about his condition produced a rescue in Arizona willing to take him.

Marleys Mutts pledged that we would cover the medical costs and so we must. His blood will not clot on account of the rattlesnake venom and he is starting to bleed from his mouth anus and nose. Plasma transfusions and other treatments will help his blood clot and ensure his survival. Please help us raise the money necessary to cover Merrick's plasma transfusions and hospital treatment. We have named him Joseph Carey Merrick after the original "Elephant Man". Merrick has made it three days with no antivenin which is a feat in and of itself. Please help us help this boy. He sure does deserve it!
