Christina Safford hasn't added a story.
Before the sun even rose in the sky, two Immigration officers
showed up at our house and took Alejandro away from our lives...
just showed up and suddenly he's gone.
Alejandro is a good man, with a heart that has reached out and
helped so many along his way. We are a couple who has been together
for 2 years. We live quietly out in the country, building a dream
together – a house (half way through being built) - a home on land
we can call our own, raise a family, chickens & a couple cows.
Our goal is to live simply, have a big garden, teach our 11-year old
how to be self-sufficient through hard work, family values and
kindness to others. We love to laugh, salsa dance, eat big meals
with family and friends, and are no different then any other couple
working to make a life together. As a mom of a child who struggles
with "unknowns" as he copes with autism - my heart breaks
watching him at 11 feels like he has to be the man of the house -
strong and unfailing. We just want our Alejandro home!
Immigration law is an ever-changing, volatile target that even
I thought I understood until I was in the middle of trying to sort
through the chaos. The process will cost about 30,000 in
legal fees when all is said and done.
All of our money is wrapped up in the home we were building. So,
I am stepping on my pride and my sense of overwhelm to ask for help.
I spoke to Alejandro and he is doing ok. He says they are not
treated badly, but it is jail - so it's not easy being there.
Everyone there is in the same story, so most people keep their
heads down and don't cause trouble but there are those that don’t
seem to care what happens to them and stir up problems. He is
asking you all to pray for him - ask the angels to move on his behalf!
I will let him tell his story when he comes home, that's not
for me to do, but I can tell you that he's no hardened criminal.
He is a good man caught in a political rule that decides that
where a man is born determines his right to live on US soil. As
my sister says, we don't choose where we are born - each of us
could have been born anywhere. But, this has been his home for 18
years, and my son and I simply want him to come home, help us
finish building our house, and continue our lives together.
Many of you have known him for many years and know his kind
heart, his ability to be a friend to those who need a friend, and
how he has stood for those who needed someone to stand up for
them. Now, he needs someone to stand for him. Feel free to share
this with friends and family.
My son just keeps asking, "why can't he come home!?"
It breaks my heart. He doesn't understand why they get to decide
if he's a part of our family or not. Why they get to just take
him away and send him back to a place he no longer even knows. He
keeps asking how we are going to finish our house so we can move
out of the trailer we are in and have a real home - running water,
heat, etc. We need him home!
If you have it in your heart to give - any amount you are
able, I cannot even begin to tell you how grateful we would be.
This is as much a request for prayers for the judge to be
gracious - so even if you cannot help financially, please help
with prayers - they are just as important!!
