On August 4, 2014 Imperial Metals Mount Polley Mine unleashed billions of gallons of toxic wastewater into the world. Since then, Imperial Metals has refused to provide any compensation to those affected. Since then, Imperial Metals has refused to clean up the mess that they created.

Indigenous nations connected by the salmon, the water and the moose are uniting to respond to this disaster by lighting sacred fires, setting up blockades, meeting with their Elders and communities, forming independent expert advisory panels and holding press conferences.

It's an important time for all of us to come together and confront this disaster and those that created it. In the years before the Imperial Metals Mount Polley dam breach and spill, the Ministry of Environment warned the company at least 5 times. None of these warnings were enforced. Even after the disaster, the ministry and the province refuse to fine or charge the company and to this date have not even completed appropriate testing of the air, the water or the sediment.

And so we must do the work. We must come together. For those of us who can move to the frontlines, we must move. For those of us who can donate funds, material, food, we must donate. Now is the time. This is the place. You are the person. We are the people.
