Jim Taylor hasn't added a story.
Ryan Taylor is a 16yr old Track and Field athlete from Wahnapitae, Ontario, who is on a quest to represent Team Canada in 2015 at the World Youth Championships. In Canada, athletes receive very little support, especially as Youth aged athletes, from their country's athletic organization. Almost all of the funding to attend meets come from the athlete's themselves, with a small portion from their individual clubs. Most clubs are able to assist athletes with yearly registrations and meet entry fees, but expenses such as travel, accommodations, equipment and meals, is absorbed by the athlete. This year, Ryan's plans are to attend the Canadian Championships in Moncton New Brunswick, Canadian Junior Championships in Montreal, Quebec, and the Canadian Youth Championships in Langley BC. These meets are all, very important stops on the road to make the Canadian Youth Team in 2015. In the winter of 2015, it will be very important for Ryan to travel frequently to proper training facilities in Toronto (4 hr drive away), as Sudbury does not have appropriate indoor training facilities for his development. Currently, Ryan is ranked 3rd in Canada as a Youth Athlete in the Triple Jump, and next season, 1 of those athletes ranked ahead of him moves up an age category, which make Ryan # 2 ranked for his age year. This puts him in a perfect position to make next years team. His long term goal is to make the 2020 Olympic Games.
Ryan is a student at Lasalle Secondary School in Sudbury, where he maintains a 90% average. He is also a member of the Track North Athletic Club and he also assists younger track and field athletes with their development.
This is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity for Ryan. Any assistance that Ryan could receive on his quest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your support !
