Summer is rough.... so, so many dogs, so, so few adopters.  We got a call from our accountant that our war chest had taken a beating and they wanted to know what was heck was going on and why the intake vet bills had skyrocketed in the last month and we had to fess up that at the beginning of July, we took in 22 dogs in one week.

Mercy, Merrit, Auggy, Alice, Wicket, Ulysses, Zahara, Vail, Muriel, Gadot, Justiry, Quip, Sherwood, Curry, Riley, Uma, Brownie, Aura, Pluto, Pinky, Captain, and Miss Sammy all welcomed in the span of 7 days at the end of June, beginning of July.  We were good until the bills came in and now we have some answering to do :)

The intake costs for each DRSF dog average around $400 and so in the span of one week, we burned through nearly $9,000 just getting doxies in need into our care and diagnosing their issues - that doesn't even count treating them. (and as you will recall, Merrit had not one, but TWO IVDD surgeries- we can't even bear to do the math..)

So here we are, back again, to ask your support to give our war-chest an infusion to help offset the costs to welcome these sweet souls to our door.  Normally we can keep ahead of the costs, but with adoptions down and dogs in need coming in, we need your help to cover the intake costs.  Can you help us catch our breath and be ready for the next wave we know is right around the corner?
