Blount County Humane Society hasn't added a story.
IN HONOR OF LITTLE GIRL... Little Girl was a sweet rescue dog rescued
from the street when she was hurt and afraid. Let's all honor Little
Girl's life by filling up the Good Samaritan Fund in her name to help
more dogs & cats just like her.
Little Girl was a street dog in Maryville Tennessee and much of
her story is a mystery. She roamed the streets panhandling and would
end up at one house in particular most every evening where she got
something to eat. After eating she would get a little lovin from the
people who lived there and then she would settle down on their deck to
snooze and digest. But the next morning she would be gone. No one knew
when she left or where she went but when evening rolled around again
she would show her cute little face and hungry growling belly again.
And this routine carried on for several months until one day Little
Girl showed up dragging her back legs... Something had happened...
Little Girl's benefactors took her to the local shelter that
just happened to be in a No Kill community and the good people there
have a plan for critters thant need help just like Little Girl. The
shelter called the Blount County Humane Society and they swung into
action by picking up Little Girl and getting her to the vet for
emergency care. Some thought she may have been hit by a car but
whatever had happened she was now going to get the help she needed.
X-Rays were taken and tests were administered and it was
determined that Little Girl had degenerative disk disease. You see
Little Girl was advanced in age. Her little muzzle was graying and her
eyes were cloudy and it seemed her hard life was catching up to her.
She was given steroids and TLC at the vet and after a little while she
was showing encouraging improvement.
When Little Girl was back on all four paws she came to the
Blount County Humane Society for foster or adoption. That would be a
tall order however because there aren't lots of people willing to take
on and aging dog with so many health problems. Little Girl had heart
issues, arthritis issues, teeth issues and some of her issues even had
issues. As it ended up we didn't find a quick permanent home for her
so we determined to give her a home with us at the BCHS until one came
her way.
Everyone at the BCHS fell in love with her. We doted over her
and loved on her with pets on the head and treats in her belly. She
was with us for several months and as the time passed our love for her
grew stronger and stronger.
Our hope never gave way that she would find that perfect person
to give her that perfect home we wanted her to have but as life has a
way of doing time ran short and one day just recently Little Girl was
feeling poorly. This was out of character for her because she was
usually happy to see us and ready to eat her supper and go for her
walk. She went to the vet where it was discovered she was in
congestive heart failure and kidney failure. One of these diseases is
serious but the two together is heartbreaking.
We hoped and we prayed but the next morning our Little Girl
passed on to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for her people one day to join
her. And believe you me we will be looking for her little sweet face
on that day. What a reunion it will be.
Little Girl was our dog at the BCHS. We were her family and we
will always have a place in our heart for her. We have all cried and
had a heavy heart but now it's time to move forward and honor her life
as a former street dog that fell ill and came to us as a little angel
that brightened our life in so many ways.
Now it's time to honor Little Girls life by preparing to do
everything we did for Little Girl all over again for another sweet
little face that needs us... that needs you.
So please consider donating to our Good Samaritan Fund in honor
of the best little girl God ever created on this earth. We love you
Little Girl, keep an eye out for us approaching the Rainbow Bridge.
Can't wait to see you again... ^..^~
