Jamikia is a full time mom and student who has never had any trouble with the law until Christmas Eve 2016 when she made two attempts to pick up her child and both times was attacked by the fathers family. She now faces two felony charges based on lie.

My sister, Jamikia Davis, is the type of young woman many aspire to be. She’s a dedicated, loving single mom, with physical custody of a 7 year old daughter. She works full time and is a college student. Jamikia’s priority in life is making sure that her daughter has a strong foundation to build on for success. She has welcomed her daughter’s father to participate in their child’s life and permits him see her whenever he wants despite his failure to pay child support. Jamikia has strong family values, faith in God and a never-quit attitude. But now the future of her and her daughter are in jeopardy.

Christmas Eve will never be the same in this family. Jamikia and my niece's father had agreed that Jamikia would have their daughter on Christmas Eve and she would spend Christmas Day with the father’s family. But when Jamikia went to pick up her daughter, she and our other sister were attacked and injured. The police were called but since it was a ‘custody issue’ they didn’t intervene. After hours of communicating with my niece's father, he finally agreed that Jamikia could pick up their daughter. Ready to salvage what was left of Christmas Eve, we went to pick up my niece. Instead of turning her over, multiple members of the father’s family came charging out of the house and attacked our family members. A fight ensued, all walked away with injuries, and still my niece wasn’t returned to us.

To our shock, a few hours later Jamikia was arrested! She was accused of stabbing two people. Jamikia was never the aggressor. She did not have a weapon of any kind. Jamikia has no criminal record and has never had run ins with the law. She is facing felony charges and could lose custody of her daughter, all through no fault of her own. Earlier this week the District Attorney offered her a plea “deal” of 5 years in jail for a crime she did not commit. We are beside ourselves. Jamikia needs a private criminal attorney but we don’t have the means to pay for one. Do you know a criminal attorney who would allow us to pay over time? Anything you can give towards Jamikia’s defense fund will be so very appreciated.

We are a proud family. We never would have imagined making a public plea for help but we are desperate -- my sister is a good woman, a great mom and a law abiding citizen who is being railroaded and bullied and whose daughter is being used as a pawn. Please help us -- spread the word and keep us in your prayers. Thank you.
