After winning the Scottish Championships in 2015, Whitburn Band will compete in the 2016 European Brass Band Championships in Lille, France at the end of April. We need your help to get us there!

After winning the Scottish Brass Band Championships in 2015, Whitburn Band will represent Whitburn, West Lothian and Scotland at the prestigious European Brass Band Championships. This year's event is being held in Lille, France on the 29th and 30th April.

Whitburn has a proud record of representing Scotland in the event and has achieved some outstanding results in the past, notably in finishing second in 1990.

The band has had one of the busiest periods in its history over the last six months, with prestigious performances with the Rambert Ballet Company and at the Cumnock Tryst festival on top of contest performances at the Royal Albert Hall, Scottish Open and Scottish Championships.

The Europeans is always one of the most expensive contests to attend and the band needs your help. Two years ago, when the band attended the Europeans in Perth, members of the band cycled the 60 miles from Whitburn to Perth to raise money. While a bike ride to Lille was considered (and very quickly discounted given some of our fitness levels!), this year the band is going to swim the English Channel to France. Just not literally.

On Sunday 17th April, members of the band will gather at Whitburn swimming pool and collectively swim the distance of the English channel to raise money towards our trip. We would be extremely grateful for any support, big or small - anything you can donate will be appreciated.

Than you in advance for all your support,

All at Whitburn Band
