Schools are reopening in Burkina Faso and we need your help to get the protective equipment we need to safely welcome the students back!

As the Covid19 situation in Burkina Faso is improving, the government is now beginning to reopen cities, markets and schools.  We praise God because none of our students or staff were touched by the disease. Everything is going well in the Village of Hope compound and the staff are actively preparing for the reopening of the school and the return of exam students at the beginning of June. The rest of the school will reopen in the fall.

Before reopening we need to prepare the dormitories and classrooms with preventative and protective equipment in order to welcome the students back to a safe environment. We still need equipment such as thermometers, hand washing stations, hand sanitizer and soap. In addition, the government is making masks mandatory, so we will need to provide masks for all the students as well. In the same area as Village of Hope is a girls vocational training school called Village of Opportunity where they are busy sewing masks. This is where Village of Hope will be purchasing masks from once they get enough funds. We are excited about this great way to support another local community partner!

As we prepare to welcome back our students, we are asking for your help to get these materials. We are incredibly grateful for all your support and prayers. This is a hard time, but we are stronger together and we know we will make it through this!

The Village of Hope (VoH), located outside of the capital city of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso provides quality education, healthcare, and nutritious food for hundreds of children each year.

VoH provides Christ-centered education to children who would otherwise not be able to attend school. Visitors to the school are always impressed with the thirst for knowledge and level of discipline these students have, and how committed the teachers are to seeing the children reach their full potential. The government of Burkina Faso regularly conducts educational assessments and standardized testing. The VoH consistently ranks among the top schools in the country.

Nutrition and healthcare.  Proper health and nutrition are critical components of every child’s growth and development. Children at the VoH receive life-saving vaccinations, regular health check-ups, and medical care as needed. Malnutrition is a leading cause of death and one of the biggest barriers to children in Burkina Faso reaching their potential.

Developing future leaders.  The Village of Hope is helping to break the cycle of poverty for hundreds of children and families. Pastor Michel and his team specifically seek out the afflicted, the outcast, and the most marginalized in an already impoverished country in order to provide them with a loving community in which they can grow, learn, and thrive.

In the beginning, young boys and girls simply learn how to smile, to play, to be kids. Then, as they learn more, they begin to dream of who they can be and how they can impact their community, their nation, and our world!
