Christiana Nicolaou hasn't added a story.
Our team of volunteers, called "Rescued Dogs for Adoption Cyprus", is dedicated to rescue and rehome abandoned dogs. We ask for your help to cover the medical expenses of Boxy, the lovely dog shown in the picture.
On Friday, the 15th of February, we were notified by municipal employees that the dog in the picture had been taken to a temporary shelter. The dog did not have a microchip and there were no other signs of a possible owner (tag, phone number, etc.). Under these circumstances, Boxy was going to be put to sleep in a few days' time, so we decided to take action.
During our first encounter with her, we thought that she was pregnant, as her belly was bloated and her nipples enlarged. "Rescued Dogs for Adoption Cyprus" immediately assumed the responsibility to provide her with shelter and everything she and her puppies would need - just as any living being on this planet deserves.
On Saturday, the 23rd of February, she was taken to the vet where the diagnosis was not pregnancy, but a serious and urgent case of pyometra (an extreme infection of the uterus which fills up with pus, hence the bloating of the belly). She was immediately admitted for surgery. She remains at the clinic, fighting for her life as her condition is still critical.
We all hope and believe that she will make it through this ordeal and be back with us soon. However, the operation and hospitalization costs amount to 400 euros. We could really use your support and help in covering the costs for her!
