A call went out from the shelter this afternoon for help with a little boy in bad shape..."2 years old, neutered, 8lbs, in need of Urgent Rescue due to puncture wounds causing possible urethral rupture and also being Heartworm Positive (advanced)"  He had no way out and nobody to help him but us. A transport was organized to get him to us and this sweet little boy threw up multiple times in the car on the way, and tried to nudge the blankets he was wrapped in to cover it up :(

We named him Heston and upon his arrival at LeadER he was taken to triage where Dr. Rosainz got to work on him and found a little boy who is very, very sick....Heston has puncture wounds on his belly and near his penis, likely a ruptured urethra.  His heartworm is advanced and will need a cardiology consult, x rays, surgical consult to see what we can do to put him back together, bloodwork, and an abdominal ultrasound to understand his injuries internally.

He is in very, very bad shape and we are not sure how this will turn out, but we have to give him a chance.  Rescue is taking chances when we know the outcome, but rescue is more importantly letting a living creature know that we are there to help and will not turn away even if we don't know how it will turn out.  Every dog deserves this chance....can you help us give it to Heston?
