Amber Halsell hasn't added a story.
Bodhi will be going to a specialist in spinal injuries for a consultation with possible x-rays on Tuesday 10/11. He may also need a CT scan, but I will fundraise for that if/when needed. I am setting the goal at $300 to cover the consult fee of $70 and then $200 or so (estimate) for x-rays.
Bodhi's story:
Bodhi is a 2-year-old neutered chihuahua/corgi mix. He is a friendly
and happy little guy, loves to play with other dogs and with toys, and
is very sweet and affectionate. Unfortunately, at some point in the
last 6 months or so (exact date of injury is unknown as he has been
given away online several times before he was surrendered to me and
each previous owner claims ignorance of how or when the injury
occurred) Bodhi suffered what appears to be an attack by a
larger dog. My best guess is he was grabbed by the back leg and
shaken as his leg is very mangled (still trying to get it to heal
though thankfully there are no breaks or fractures...however, the
wound went untreated for so long, he has trouble using the leg and
even once the wounds heal, the leg will never be the same again) and
pretty obvious nerve damage. I am unable to afford in-depth
diagnostics for him (he needs, at the very least, a CT scan of his
spine) but my vet believes that he has nerve damage in his spine and
leg. He is not paralyzed (he still has tail and anal tone) BUT he is
unable to control his bowel movements and tends to leak urine. Proin
and a belly band has helped somewhat with the urine leakage, but I
am at a complete loss with the fecal incontinence. From observation,
it appears that he is completely unaware of when he needs to
defecate, so the feces just sort of slip out of him (usually when he
is in a sitting position or exerting himself in some way--i,e,
trying to get up stairs)

I have a few video clips of
Bodhi that should help illustrate the physical impairments I have described:

I have reached out to the two rescues I know of who deal exclusively with special needs dogs, but unfortunately neither is able to help at this time. Bodhi needs extensive care that I am not able to provide for him. Without a rescue placement, I don't know what his future will hold as I am not very optimistic that he has any chance of being adopted in his current state in spite of being such a sweet and loving dog.
