My name is Jay Ferrill and I am currently a nursing student at Denver School of Nursing. This past spring I have been given an awesome opportunity to serve on an internship in Uganda with the Global Health Perspectives Club at my school. Our mission will be to reduce malnutrition through locally owned businesses. The internship partners with a Non-Profit organization called the Mango Project. This organization began in 2003 and focuses in the West Nile region of Uganda, with an aim to fight against malnutrition. You see, mangos are locally grown and packed full of Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Iron, and many other critical nutrients. The local communities were taught the technique of preserving (canning) mangos, which provide a way for the local people to consume the fruit year round. It also allowed for growth of the local business market to provide this fruit throughout the neighboring villages, providing more jobs.

We will be based at a local hospital in which we will assist in medical care, and educating about proper nutrition at the hospital and surrounding villages.

I am so excited to have this opportunity and would be so grateful if you would help me raise funds for my trip. My goal is to raise $3,000 by June 1st, which will go towards my flight, housing, medical supplies, equipment, and support the Mango Project. Your donations are tax deductible!!!

Thank you so much for your donations and support!
