5 Years running

After raising over £400 (including cash) for Neil's fund by running the Swansea Half Marathon I've decided to have a crack at hiking the entire length of Hadrian's Wall to raise money for Neil once again. This is a coast to coast walk from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, 84 miles to be exact over 4 ish days. May have bitten off more than I can chew this time but a challenge isn't meant to be easy ey!

Neil was a fit, athletic, hard working, social young man with a great future ahead of him until he went on a night out to celebrate his best friends birthday and never returned.

Neil suffered a severe traumatic brain injury when he fell 50 foot after being abandoned and robbed by a taxi driver. He was found by a passerby and rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery.

Despite the odds he pulled through, however he is unable to talk to us but communicates with his facial expressions. Neil is bedbound and requires 24hr care by two carers. We are confident that he recognises his family and friends and his personality shows through all the time. He smiles, laughs (his laugh which is wonderful to hear), gives thumbs up, shakes his head and will shake your hand.

All of this progress has been achieved through attending intensive neuro therapy which has given Neil the confidence that he can improve his situation through hard work and believing in himself. The doctors do not know what the future holds for him or how far his recovery will go but we are determined to give him the best shot at getting his life back. He attends therapy twice a week and each session costs £96 - the NHS will not fund the sessions even though it is clearly helping him.

Every little bit helps and all goes towards improving Neil's quality of life.

Thank you, Adam x
