Quinn was our beautiful 17 year old daughter, she was kind, funny, stubborn, quirky, crazy and amazing. Sadly one day (9th December 2018) she decided that life was just too hard for her. She walked to the end of our street and hung herself from a little tree, a tree that doesn't look strong enough to have held her.
At first we wanted to cut that tree down, burn it and never set eyes on it again, however the day after she took her own life, myself my husband David and our son Dyllon went to the florist and bought the most beautiful flowers and tied them to the tree.
That tree was the last thing to have felt our daughters touch, the last thing that she saw.
As the day went on Quinn's friends brought more flowers with the loveliest messages, our neighbours also brought flowers, people who didn't even know Quinn brought flowers and candles and that little tree became a symbol of beauty to us. A place for reflection, a place to remember our lovely Quinn.
We have started to clean up the area around the tree and have planted some bulbs, plants and shrubs. We have ordered a really nice bench in memory of Quinn where everyone can sit and think of her and the memories they have shared with her.
Thanks to kind donations we have already raised enough money  to make that little tree and the area surrounding it as beautiful as our memories of Quinn.
Now we need to do more, we need to help families like us who have lost a loved one to suicide, we need to help people like Quinn who are feeling lost and alone.
We have a much bigger plan, we are in the process of setting up a charity in Quinn's memory.......
Quinn was so special and that's why her story can’t end with her death, we have to tell her story and keep talking about her. The charity that we are in the process of starting is called Quinn's retreat.
We want to provide short breaks to families who have lost a loved one to suicide and also to people and their families who are feeling low, suffering from depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts etc. just a break away from the trials of everyday life, the chance to breathe again....This will be Quinn's story
