Another Day, another doxie surrendered to the shelter by a family without a care in the world....that is what happened to this little girl who woke up this AM, thinking she had a family who loved her.

One minute she was at home, the next minute she was handed over to the shelter AFTER her family signed paperwork saying that since she was an owner surrender she could be put down immediately for space.

The the call went out for the shelter, for this little 8 year old girl, not even 9 lbs with a large mass hanging off her side and a hairless tale that speaks to some other undiagnosed condition going on.

To her former "family" she wasn't work a second thought that she could be killed immediately, to us, she deserved an immediate hold, her freedom ride organized to get her-the-heck-out-of-there, and immediate vet care with Dr. Weman at Everglades Animal Hospital.

The little girl we have named Chiklet was welcomed and loved at Everglades, had an exam, some bloodwork, and the large mass on her side aspirated to see what we are working with. It appears that Dr. Weman will be able to remove it without too much difficulty along with a pretty hefty dental to tidy up Chicklet's teeth (as if her "family" was not paying attention to a mass on the side of her body, a dental was certainly not part of the program...)

Will you help us help Chicklet get the care she needs to help her have many years filled with love and belly rubs ahead of her from a family will not hand her over to be immediately euthanized? As always, it is your support that makes it possible for us to go running as soon as these dogs are brought to the shelter.  Chicket is safe tonight and asks your help to not only help her, but the next little one we know is right around the corner <3
