Felicity has been rescuing equines at her home in rural Normandy, France, for over 10 years. Recently, she officially set up The Pegasus Sanctuary, with the aim of increasing awareness of all equines in need and of sharing news from the Sanctuary. In addition, we hope to raise much-needed funds to help with the day-to-day costs including feed, medications, vets’ bills, etc.

All the horses, ponies and donkeys at the Pegasus Sanctuary have been rescued by Felicity. Many arrived in a terrible state, some were destined for the abattoir, and sadly all have been traumatised in some way before they arrived to the safety, care and love offered by Felicity and The Pegasus Sanctuary. There are currently 17 equines being cared for.

This is our first fund-raising campaign and we have chosen to focus on Soon and Dameuse who both suffer from Cushing’s Disease, also known as PPID (Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction). Cushing’s Disease is a chronic, progressive condition which develops when there is a tumour in the pituitary gland. This causes the release of excess hormones which affect the body negatively in many different ways. There is no cure, but medication is available which helps to regulate hormone secretions and therefore alleviates symptoms. Treatment is life-long, but can dramatically improve the quality of life. We hope to raise money to pay for this medication so that Soon and Dameuse can start treatment without delay.

A donation of 6 euros would cover the cost of one day’s treatment for Soon and Dameuse.

We truly appreciate any help you can offer, however small, and you can rest assured that all funds will go towards helping Soon and Dameuse.
