Hello All,

This year marks the 20th Anniversay of the Asperger/Autism Network, a non-profit founded by a group of parents and professionals to help service the family and individual needs of those affected by Asperger's and autism. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in 68 children today are affected by austic spectrum disorder.  In addition to acting as a sponsor for the 20th Anniversary Event taking place on April 30, 2016 at the Edward Kennedy Institute, I am raising money to present as a donation.  As many of you know, my brother Brian lives with Asperger's. Brian is a gifted artist (one of his paintings is attached as the campaign logo), however Brian, and many others affected by Asperger's and autism, do not have skills that are essential for day to day life in the workforce or the community. They do not enjoy the same opportunities as many of us with respect to employment training, education, and housing. Because no medicine exists to treat this disorder, management of the affliction rests on a combination of therapy and behavioral analysis tailored to the individual, which takes a great deal of support and resources that are not available for many individuals and families. This creates an incredible strain on a household. I am speaking from experience. I am raising money in hopes that mental health professionals continue to develop ways to ensure that those affected by Aperger's and autism have the support and resources needed to address the challenges presented to the families and individuals affected by this disorder.  Thank you in advance for any donation you can make. It is a great help. My family and I as well as the AANE truly appreciate it.
