Courage comes in many shapes. There is courage we use when soldiers go to war and we should all be grateful! but there is also the quiet everyday courage of people in our community facing personal challenges. Sometimes they win these battles themselves but we all know of times when the community has stepped forward with support when asked to do so.  Myself and two of our boys are courageously living with a genetic condition called SMAD4. SMAD4 is a life long condition that attacks the internal organs and frequently requires surgical intervention. Our 15 year old also suffers from a seizer disorder that he has to deal with daily.. 2 years ago Khailnn underwent surgery to remove his colon but that has not proved to be beneficial to him. He is now facing reconstructive surgery on December 3, 2014 at the Children's hospital in Vancouver BC Canada while he still has the physical strength to handle it. But this situation is even more complicated because Khailnns dad is Canadian, but Khailnn was born in Charleston South Carolina. My partner and I have been working on towards my Canadian citizenship but has been very complicated. The immigration department will not allow me to work or receive any health care or any social assistance.. Khailnn has to have 24 hour care and my partner works 3 jobs to keep us from drowning.  Our other boy Christian who is 12 is awaiting the removal of his colon in the new year.  Myself since entering Canada has lost over 220lbs, and with having to pay for medical my tests have been limited. We also have 5 other children ages 14,12,11, and the only baby girl is 8 that we have to think about as well, with this being said, I feel my self not knowing what to do as a partner or mom.. my heart is heavy with the sadness of my wife having to be the sole provider in our home and not knowing if we will be able to provide them with a Christmas. Our funds have been taken up by last moment air plain tickets to Vancouver.  So our boys can have the other needed surgery from dr.s. As a last resort we welcome any support anyone can offer. Any money raised will be going to Khailnn and Christians medical supplies, travels for us back and forth to the hostpital and also with a deposit for an immagration lawyer so I can stay here in Canada.  Thank you for taking the time to read our story.
