Dustine Fisher hasn't added a story.
This August, Brandon, he is the one holding the sword and yelling in the photo, will be joining 40 Sea Cadets from various units around the Atlantic Provinces have been selected to been chosen to participate in an overseas educational exchange in Scotland, UK. Ten of the cadets that have been chosen to represent Canada are from 268 Bras d’Or. This is a wonderful opportunity for our cadets to not only be ambassadors from Canada but to also share in their knowledge of the leadership and seafaring skills that they have learned in their training in the cadet program. This exchange will also provide them with an amazing opportunity to learn new skills from the many Cadets that they will be training with in Scotland.
While in Scotland our Cadets will be spending their entire time participating in various educational experiences. These experiences will include, but are not limited to, visiting several well-known castles and other historic sites, they will tour the Royal Yacht Britannia, and they will attend the Royal International Tattoo as well as the Braemar Gathering; where members of the Royal family will be in attendance. The Sea Cadets will also participate in numerous sailing and cadet training events. There will be several hands-on activities, exciting challenges and leadership opportunities for our Cadets.
We fully expect that our Sea Cadets will bring back to our communities many of the lessons that will have learned on this trip. Our Sea Cadets are motivated to improve their physical fitness, to work harder at their academic studies and to give back to their communities through volunteerism and citizenship activities.
Our program also has a direct impact on Canadian society as a whole. Sea Cadets have the opportunity to take part in various leadership roles throughout the program. There is definite value in having well-rounded, community-minded, experienced young people who are ready to assume their places as tomorrow’s leaders and decision makers.
This experience is an optional exchange and therefore is not funded by the Department of National Defence through the formal cadet program. Our cadets that will be participating are expected to fundraise for the entire trip at a cost of approximately $2,200 per Cadet.
We are seeking support from you to help Brandon raise money for his trip.
In exchange for your support we would be happy to acknowledge your generosity publically with a thank you note and your logo posted on our Facebook page as well as on our official website, http://www.268seacadets.ca/home.html . We will also be willing to include you or your company logo on all our signage during the various other fundraising events. Any persons or organizations with donations valued over $100.00 can be provided with a donation receipt for income tax purposes.
We are very proud of our Sea Cadets and we know that they will represent our communities, the Province of New Brunswick, and Canada as excellent Ambassadors in Scotland.
