Sam was born JULY 4, 2012.  He is still very young and full of life.  My 3 boys love him like one another, and we almost lost him this past summer to rhododendron poisoning.  He is a gentle, beautiful part of our lives.  My husband & I just moved to a 12 acre plot of land so he would have ample room to play with the boys, and live a good quality of life.  We have had him since he was 6 weeks of age,  now he is over 100 lbs.

Being a Scandinavian breed,  (Bernese Mountain Dog), Sam loves the snow, the cold...  He slipped on ice just before Christmas.  We never saw exactly how he fell or what he did,  but after the holidays I took him to the Animal Hospital and was told an orthopedic specialist will have to take him from here.  They compared his injury to an athlete tearing the ACL-- he is swollen, fevered and crippled.  He is not able to walk on the leg at all.

The surgery is nearly $4000 at an estimate.  We were told they need most. if not all, upfront (before they can proceed with his operation).  After our move, the holidays,  we simply don't have this kind of money RIGHT NOW.  And he needs the surgery as soon as possible.  My husband works away a lot, so it feels up to me to get proactive and help all of this happen.  I don't want to put him to sleep,  but I won't have him suffering, on meds, and not able to enjoy his days.  I take Sam for a consult very soon and will have a better idea of what steps I need to take to help him make full recovery.  Any donation will make a difference.  THANK YOU kindly, from Sam's family~  Gary, myself, Gabe, Reilly, & Braxton.
