Because we at Mercaz Academy are a mission-driven school, we ask ourselves that question. And our parents and students benefit from that focus.   At Mercaz Academy–the only Orthodox Jewish day school serving eastern Nassau and Suffolk Counties–we educate our students for today and tomorrow.  Mercaz Academy is passionately dedicated to academic excellence in Judaic and secular studies, and we emphasize personal growth in an intimate and innovative environment.  This allows us to cultivate tomorrow’s leaders through building character in an inclusive and warm community atmosphere.

Cultivating leaders of tomorrow is a tall order indeed.  At Mercaz, this involves far more than providing an understanding of a fund of knowledge in general and Judaic studies.  It calls for  nothing less than instilling in our students an appreciation of timeless values that will help a child navigate a lifetime of shifting trends.  And it all begins in elementary school.

Strong support for Israel is one such value.  Our students are imbued with love for the people of Israel, the land of Israel, the Torah of Israel–and the State of Israel.  Mercaz Academy emphasizes our commitment to Israel in myriad ways:  From heartfelt tefillah to political advocacy with our elected officials.  From sending uplifting holiday videos to soldiers and hospitalized children, to collecting clothing for families in need and even donating hair to children who have lost theirs through illness.

As you will see in this brief slideshow above, our student community’s support for Israel is steadfast and deeply rooted.

Mercaz Academy plays an irreplaceable role for parents in the 18 communities that we serve.  We provide not just Jewish community for families from all walks of Jewish life, but Jewish continuity:  Nearly 20 percent of students in our grades are from families who began their children’s education in public school.  Our families count on us for their children’s Jewish education, and to instill in them a solid moral compass.  And we count on you.
