The dramatic story of endangered Southern Resident killer whales reached a crescendo in 2018 when Tahlequah carried her dead calf for 17 days and over 1,000 miles. The hearts of people around the world were touched by the tragic grief displayed by a mother orca. Today, the whales continue to struggle to reproduce and continue their family lines. Whale Scout restores salmon habitat to help address a critical problem for orcas: lack of food. Improving riparian areas alongside Chinook-bearing rivers and streams, we get whale watchers directly involved in saving the whales we all love to observe in the wild.
With just 73 whales remaining in this population, we're serious about getting work done. Here's what we plan to do in 2022 your support from this campaign:

Holiday shenanigans can be stressful and if you would like to take the opportunity to relax and feel re-energized or just let go of unwanted emotions, Whale Scout Shalena is offering Reiki treatments for relaxation and overall healing. Reiki’s gentle energy relaxes the mind and body, improves health, aids in better sleep and assists in detoxification. It is complementary to any treatment you may be undergoing. The treatment takes place in a relaxed environment with the recipient fully clothed on a massage table or chair as preferred. Shalena is a trained Reiki teacher, body work therapist and energy channel. She has trained extensively in India and is currently teaching Reiki, meditation and offering Reiki treatments in Sammamish.
