Her photo came to our intake team from a shelter way out of our area. Her head was low, her eyes were tired, the shelter said there was a problem with her jaw and she couldn't close her mouth, she looked like she had given up. Her frosty face and look in her eyes told a story of a lifetime of of struggle at best, abuse at worst. We placed our hold and our Doxie Taxi team got to work in getting her to South Florida.

We named our new angel Marina and when she arrived at LeadER, she was immediately taken to the back to be examined and what we found was heartbreaking. There was indeed something wrong with her jaw, causing her not to be able to close her mouth. Marina was found to have several fractured ribs, a mouth full of horrific, infected teeth, and a bulge in her groin that seems to be an avulsed muscle from whatever trauma she sustained. Marina had x-rays, bloodwork, fluids, abx, and pain meds along with various tests to ensure that we have caught everything that she has going on.

Once all the tests are back, our medical team will put together a treatment plan for Marina, and until then, she will be well fed, tucked into a clean bed, and loved on by the LeadER Team.

Marina has likely been let down and abused her entire life and found herself at a shelter right before the holidays. She needed a Christmas Miracle and we want to give that to her. Tonight, this weary angel is far away from the shelter, but we need your help to cover her care so that we can be there for the next angel who will need us soon. Will you help us make a Christmas Miracle for Marina?

All it takes is $1 to join her live-saving team. As always, even if you are not able to donate, your comment alone helps Marina as the more comments we have, the more Facebook shares her story. Thank you!!
