Millie came home from intensive care a week after she was dumped and entered emergency care with us. From extremely critical- I was encouraged to put her down the first few days, but her improvements told me otherwise- to healthy. Her kidney values went from off the charts to normal, her high liver values came down, her fluid in her abdomen went away, her mouth ulcers healed, she is on antibiotics for a severe bladder infection, and all of her vitals are maintaining themselves appropriately now, whereas before everything had to be monitored and kept stable. She is still paralyzed and we have a great offer by a great surgeon to get an MRI done and surgery if needed. Next after some at home rest she will also need to get her vaccinations in two weeks as well as a blood re-check, microchipped, spayed, and likely an MRI to see why she is "down", possibly surgery, and physical therapy.

Wednesday July 23, 2014 1:24pm:
I just got a call from the
Brooklyn shelter about a dog who had been dumped outside the Staten
Island shelter today. She appears to be in renal failure and will be
on the way to our emergency vet, Veterinary Medical Center of Long
Island (VMCLI), within the hour. They seemed a little shocked when I
said yes without a second's hesitation and had to ask again. My entire
body is still shaking worrying about her. I will go straight to the
vet this evening. Please send healing thoughts/ vibes/ energy, and
prayer her way. I have named her Millie, meaning strength and
determination.
